Domestic violence call ends with arrest

McCall leads sheriffs deputies on footchase

Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff Grover Smith said a local man who led authorities on brief manhunt this week will remain in jail for at least the remainder of the year.

Smith said authorities with the Escambia County Sheriff's Department and the Brewton Police Department arrested 30-year-old Timothy Wade McCall Monday after a 911 call was received from 6091 Appleton Road in reference to a domestic dispute.

According to the sheriff's department, once officers arrived on scene, McCall fled on foot into the woods. A canine team from Holman Correctional Facility was dispatched, following a lengthy search, and McCall was apprehended shortly afterward.

McCall, who was out of jail on bond, was initially charged with third-degree domestic violence, menacing; two counts of third-degree domestic assault; and attempting to elude officers; however, authorities said the charges were later upgraded to third-degree domestic-violence, assault and two counts domestic violence, strangulation.

Smith said he considered McCall a danger to his family, as well as himself, and intends to keep him incarcerated. The sheriff's office has also requested the Escambia County District Attorney's Office begin proceedings to revoke McCall's bond, stemming from prior charges.
