LeRoy Dewitte Ackerman, 51, of East Brewton, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018.
Mr. Ackerman was a native of Jackson, Ala. and former resident of Monroeville, Ala. Before relocating to East Brewton. Of the Catholic faith, he attended Troy University and Jefferson Davis Community College, where he played golf. A retired pipe welder in the construction industry, he was famous for being the 1967 Gerber baby and saying he could fit for two pipe fitters and weld for two welders.
A memorial Service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Jubilee Full Gospel Church with Speaker Trease Booker officiating and Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Ackerman is survived by his wife, Jenny Lum Ackerman; one son, Houston (Vivian) Simmons; one daughter, Bridgett Ackerman (Tyler) Smith; his mother, Diane Ackerman; two brothers, Matthew (Desha) Ackerman and Ken Ackerman; and two grandchildren.
