Jay student killed in Thursday crash

First grader dies; three others are injured

A single-vehicle crash at 3:12 p.m. last Thursday, Oct. 18, has claimed the life of a Jay Elementary School student and injured three others.

Six-year-old Kirstianna Boutwell was killed when the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox she was a passenger in left the roadway and struck a tree. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Boutwell was a first grader at Jay Elementary School.

The driver, Delaney Hammac, 18, of Panama City, was injured and transported to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, where she underwent surgery and expects a full recovery. Two other children were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital...
