FHS falls to Bayside Academy

Some missed opportunities early and late opened the door for Bayside Academy to take a 34-21 victory over Flomaton Friday night handing the Hurricanes their first loss of the season as well as the first area loss.

Flomaton will be back in area play this Friday night when the Hurricanes travel to Mobile Christian.

"We didn't practice well all week and we didn't play well Friday night," said Flomaton head coach Doug Vickery. "We never seemed able to get in tune."

"We still did some good things, but we couldn't make the plays when we needed too," Vickery added. "We got inside the 20 four times and didn't score. It's like leaving runners on base in baseball, you've got to take advantage of those opportunities."

Bayside opened the game with an onsides kick that was recovered by Flomaton's Alex Cash to give the Hurricanes a first down at the Bayside 49-yard line. Flomaton was able to march to the 12-yard line before a fourth down pass fell incomplete.

Johnson hit DaShun Odom at the 13, but the Canes were unable to score and turned the ball over on downs at the Bayside 13.
