Man faces child cruelty charge

An East Brewton man was arrested and faces one felony child cruelty charge following an investigation into social media images and texts exchanged between the suspect and a 14-year-old female since 2016.

Nicholas Curtis Glass, 21, 3528 Highway 29, was arrested Aug. 23 after authorities issued a Facebook warrant for his Facebook page June 11, and as a result, on June 28, discovered six pictures classified as pornography that had been sent to the minor female, according to an Escambia County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office report.

The report stated on April 27, 2018, the minor's parent contacted the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office to report the minor had been receiving pornographic images from the suspect and through access to the minor's Facebook Messenger, the suspect had discussed plans of having sex with the victim, sending pictures of his exposed penis.

In a May 11 interview with the victim, authorities learned that the suspect and the minor became 'friends' on the social media site Facebook using the name Nick Curtis Glass and began talking. According to the report, the suspect began sending the victim nude pictures of himself around October 2016, saying he wanted to have sex before he came over to her house, to which the victim said OK.

The victim said the suspect came to the victim's house, where the two sat in the car to talk, the report said. The victim said Glass kissed her on the lips and began touching her upper thigh when her father came outside and told them to go up on the porch.

During an interview with the suspect and his girlfriend on June 18, the suspect told authorities he did not know the minor female or who she is. The report said investigators asked Glass if he has ever sent any nude pictures of himself to anybody and he stated he does not do that kind of stuff.

Glass was arrested and transported to Escambia County Jail and given a bond of $30,000.
