Traffic stop nets pills, meth

A traffic stop Aug. 19 in Flomaton led to the arrest of a Brewton woman on drug charges after Flomaton Police Chief Bryan Davis found prescription pills and methamphetamine inside the woman's purse.

Lisa Lynne Floyd, 49, also known as Lisa McCurdy and Lisa Jackson, with a last address listed as 471 Polk Road, Brewton, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.

Chief Davis said he was on patrol shortly after 6:30 p.m. Sunday when he observed a vehicle make an improper lane change coming out of Old Fannie Road.

Davis reported he initiated a stop and observed the driver and passenger apparently trying to hid something in the center console of the 2011 Toyota Camry.

Davis said a check of the center console revealed two open containers of beer. He then learned the passenger, identified as Floyd, was on probation and received consent to search the vehicle and her purse.

Davis reported inside Floyd's purse he found a pill bottle with no label that contained 55 hydrocodone pills. He also found a dollar bill folded up that contained about a gram of meth and a straw. Davis said he also found other prescription drugs in her purse that belonged to another person.

Davis also noted there were two small children in the back of the vehicle.

Floyd was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.
