East Brewton police make drug arrests

A woman questioned after being seen leaving a well-known drug house and three separate traffic stops by East Brewton police officers sent four people to jail on drug charges.

Jennifer Legere, 33, 100 Victory St., East Brewton, was arrested July 13 and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (acetaminophen hydrocodone).

Police reports note Legere was seen leaving a residence known for selling drugs and was approached by an East Brewton police officer and discovered the pills in her possession.

She was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton and later released on $5,000 bond.

Two other suspects, Heather Dawn Cofield, 44, 9306 North Century Boulevard, and Michael Lawrence, 34, 130 Gordon Lane, Brewton, were both arrested on drug charges following traffic stops for speeding.

Cofield was arrested June 29 and charged with unlawful possession of synthetic cannabinoid and was released on $5,000 bond.

Lawrence was arrested July 4 and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine). He remained in the detention center on $30,000 bond as of press time.

James Edward Lewis, 50, 15 Maple St., Century, was arrested July 2 after being pulled over for having one working headlight and charged with unlawful possession of synthetic cannabinoid. He was released on $5,000 bond.
