Drug, eluding charges set for two locals

A suspect who fled from a moving vehicle was later arrested and the driver of the vehicle was arrested on drug charges following the traffic stop on Old Fannie Road.

Flomaton Police Chief Bryan Davis was on patrol at 6:36 p.m. on June 1 when he observed a Nissan Sentra with an obstructed front windshield.

After activating his emergency lights, Davis reported the vehicle continued for about three-fourths of a mile and then began slowing down. With the vehicle still moving, a passenger in the back left seat jumped from the vehicle and fled into the woods.

The passenger was identified at Jason Bailey, 27, 67 Denny Circle, Brewton. Attempts to locate Bailey at the time were unsuccessful. However, Bailey was found by East Brewton police the following day at a gas station and taken into custody. He was charged with attempting to elude. Davis also noted he was on probation and a petition to revoke his probation was issued.

The driver of the vehicle, Dennis Ray Robinson, 42, 109 Maddox St., East Brewton, was arrested at the scene on June 1 and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (suboxone) and unlawful possession of marijuana II. Davis reported after Robinson exited the vehicle they found 16 strips of suboxone and a bag of marijuana in his possession.

He was also charged with having an obstructed windshield and driving with a revoked driver's license. Robinson was on probation and a petition to revoke his probation was also filed.
