Melvojo McCurdy Ward, 88, of Mt. Carmel Community in Jay, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018.
Mrs. Ward was born on Aug. 13, 1929, to Ruben and Ruby McCurdy. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, the church her father helped build originally, where she served as Sunday School and VBS teacher, youth leader, choir member, treasurer of the Willing Workers and other roles.
A Celebration of Life was held at 3 p.m., Monday, Jan. 22, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
Burial followed in the church cemetery with Family-Funeral and Cremation Funeral Home in Pensacola officiating.
Mrs. Ward is survived by one son, David Ward of Brewton; one daughter, Joan (Gary) Mondor of Covington, La.; one sister, Bonnie Stuckey of Brewton; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband, Earl “Pete” Brandford; and one daughter, Jackie Ward.
