Man arrested after showing cops illegal pills in Flomaton

Milton man was told he was free to go; tells cops 'I have a problem'

A Milton man who was told he was free to leave a police scene Tuesday afternoon in Flomaton was later charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance when he showed police officers a pill bottle containing Xanax and other pills that he had no prescription for.

Mark Leland Musser, 33, 5409 Grand Oak Lane, was placed under arrest and transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.

About 12:30 p.m. Flomaton police received a call from United Bank about a fight taking place inside a vehicle parked in front to the bank. Musser was the driver of a vehicle that include two females and one male from Century who said they didn't know Musser but he was giving them a ride.

The females were sisters and the male was the boyfriend of one of the sisters. They stated the boyfriend and girlfriend got into a heated argument but denied getting into a fight.

Musser first granted permission to search his vehicle but later said no, telling the officers he wanted to talk to his attorney first.

The officers told all four they were free to go and the three Century residents began walking back toward Century.

Officers went inside the bank and returned outside where Musser remained. Reports said Musser told the officers he needed help because he was an addict and turned over the prescription bottle containing the two different types of pills.
