Healthcare authority wants tax increase; commission wants hospital board to request county seek AG opinion
Whether or not the Escambia County (Ala.) Commission takes any action Monday to start the process of possibly allowing the people of the county to vote on an additional 4 mill property tax for hospitals in the county will likely hinge on whether or not the Escambia County Health Care Authority makes a written formal request to the commission asking that board to seek an attorney general’s opinion concerning a 1947 legislative act that led to the current 4-mills to the hospitals.
