Caregiver says she was trying to break up siblings fighting

An Atmore woman, described as being a caretaker for two children, was arrested Dec. 1 for aggravated child abuse after being accused of using a taser on a 14-year-old in an attempt to break up a fight between the teen and his younger sibling.

Belinda Caraway Boyington, 56, 3515 Taylor Circle, was arrested by Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff's deputies following the alleged incident.

Court records show deputies were dispatched to Boyington's residence about 11:30 p.m. Friday. Boyington told officers she was trying to break up a fight between siblings. She allegedly used the taser on the 14-year-old.

She was arrested and transported to the Escambia County Detention Center and later released on $20,000 bond.
