No vote derails Century's budget plans

Special meeting set Saturday, Oct. 7, to move forward with budget

The Town of Century will go back to the drawing board after a vote of 4 to 1 Tuesday night kept the proposed millage rate of 0.9204 from being approved unanimously, which also keeps the tentative budget from being approved. Councilwoman Dynette Lewis voted no. Council members Henry Cunningham, Shelisa McCall, Alicia Johnson and Sandra McMurray Jackson voted yes. Lewis voted to approve the first reading of the proposed millage rate and budget at the Sept. 5 council meeting but Lewis has since changed her vote.
