Chosen to fill Bondurant's remaining term

Jim Johnson was sworn in Monday afternoon as mayor of Flomaton to fill the unexpired term of Dewey Bondurant, Jr., who resigned the mayor's position April 10.
Johnson, 63, has served on the town council since 2000 and was mayor pro tem at the time Bondurant stepped down.
Councilwoman Lillian Dean made the motion Monday to appoint Johnson as mayor and the motion carried unanimously. The council voted to declare Johnson's former District 3 council seat vacant and Johnson said he will nominate someone to fill that seat at the next council meeting, scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday, May 22.
