Two passengers escape injury, Daniel cut from vehicle

An Amore woman was seriously injured and two passengers in her vehicle escaped injury when her vehicle ran off Sardine Road (County Road 27) trapping the driver inside the vehicle.

It took emergency personnel 20 to 30 minutes to cut Anita Byrd Daniel, 66, out of her vehicle.

According to reports released by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Daniel's vehicle ran off the right side of Sardine Road about 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 3, and struck a tree.

The two passengers were able to walk away from the crash but Daniel was pinned inside.

Flomaton, Lambeth and Barnett Crossroads fire departments responded to the crash and the jaws of life were used to free Daniel from the wreckage. Deputies with the Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff's Office and ALEA troopers were also on the scene. She was then transported by ambulance to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital in Brewton. No update on her condition was available at press time Wednesday.
