Two jailed for child sex abuse

Men accused of sodomizing children ages 12 and 15 in Atmore

An Atmore man and a Bay Minette man are being held in the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton on separate sodomy charges against children in Atmore ages 12 and 15.

Erick Dailey, 51, 105 ½ Swift St., Atmore and Vinson Rene McReynolds, 64, 13105 Homer Hudson Lane, were both arrested by officers with the Atmore Police Department.

Dailey is charged with sodomy II and enticing a child for immoral purposes and is being held on a $500,000 bond. McReynolds is charged him with sodomy II and is being held on $300,000 bond.

According to reports from the Atmore Police Department, just after midnight on Nov. 24 officers responded to Swift Street in reference to a sexual assault on a minor under the age of 13 (the minor was 12-years old).

Police stated when officers arrived on the scene they contacted an adult family member of the child victim. The family member forced Dailey out of the residence.

Officers located Dailey and charged him with the sodomy II and enticing a child charges.

Court records show Dailey was charged with having deviate sexual intercourse with the 12-year old victim. Court records also note that Dailey is accused proposing to the child to perform the sex act.

During a bond hearing before District Judge Eric Coale, Dailey stated his only income was from Social Security and disability and requested a court appointed attorney. Judge Coale granted his hardship application and appointed the public defender's office to represent him. If freed on bond, Judge Coale stipulated Dailey is to have no contact with the victim or any child under the age of 18.

On Nov. 26, about 6:45 p.m. Atmore police responded to Cool Creek Lane in reference to a sexual assault of a minor under the age of 16 (the victim was 15 years old).

Police reports state when officers arrived they contacted an adult family member of the victim and the family member was preventing McReynolds from leaving the scene. McReynolds was detained and later charged with sodomy II and transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.

Court records state McReynolds is charged with engaging in deviate sexual intercourse with the 15-year old child.

During a bond hearing before Judge Coale, McReynolds did not request a court-appointed attorney. Judge Coale set the bond at $300,000 with the stipulations stating if McReynolds is released he is to have no contact with the victim or any child under the age of 18.
