Moore honored for his years of service

Dave Jordan tapped as county attorney

The Escambia County (Ala.) Commission presented Brewton Attorney Thad Moore with a proclamation honoring him for his many years of service as the county attorney.

Moore officially retired as the county attorney at the end of May. He has served as the county attorney since July 27, 1988.

Moore thanked the commission and said it has been his pleasure to work with different commissioners over the years who were dedicated to county government.

Moore did note that he is not retiring as an attorney and will continue to work with the Otts, Moore law firm.

Commission Chairman Raymond Wiggins announced that Brewton Attorney and former Escambia County Circuit Judge Dave Jordan has been named as the new county attorney.

Jordan, 63, is a native of Choctaw County and received his bachelor's and law degrees from the University of Alabama.

He moved to Brewton in 1989 and began practicing law with Otts, Moore and Jordan.

Former Gov. Don Siegelman appointed Jordan as Escambia County District Judge in 2003 and he was elected to a full term in 2006. In 2014, former Gov. Robert Bentley appointed Jordan to the circuit court bench. He was elected to a full term in 2016 and retired in 2020 to return to private practice.

"I'm at a point in my life I want to take on a new challenge and a new responsibility," Jordan said.

Jordan said the county is blessed to have Tony Sanks as its administrator and having Moore as its county attorney and he will still be working with both of them if he has any questions.
