Hurricanes win first track meet in history

A week after making history by winning the school’s first-ever track meet at T.R. Miller High School, Flomaton High School had several athletes place this past Friday at the Covington County Pre-Sectional Meet in Andalusia.

On April 14, Flomaton finished first overall at T.R. Miller High School.

“This is the first time in school history that any track team at Flomaton High School finished first overall,” said Coach Karl Smith.

At the T.R. Miller meet the girls 4x100 meter relay team of Danielle Schriener, Kamryn Langham, Briana Stuckey and Jalia Lassiter finished first.

Other girls placing were:

Lassiter, first place in the 100 meter dash; Mya Etheridge, first place in the 800 meter run; Georgia Silbernagel, second place in the javelin throw; and Hope White, third place in the javelin throw.

The boys were led by its first place finish in a 4x100 meter relay with the team of Deontay Averette, Ryder Spence, Akayle Dixon and Jaxon Fillmore.

Other boys placing were:

Fillmore finished first in the 100 meter dash, first in the 200 meter dash and second place in the 300 meter hurdles; Quentin Lane finished third in the 110 meter hurdles; Ivan Glenn finished first in the 300 meter hurdles, second in the javelin throw, second in the long jump and first in the triple jump; Ti’Shawn Baldwin finished third in the 400 meter dash; Cooper Turner finished second in the 800 meter run and first in the 1,600 meter run; Nate Turner finished second in the discus throw; and Miles Adams finished third in the discus throw.
