FHS donates 102 smoke detectors for residents

Fire department to give out detectors; will install at homes if asked

A program started under former Flomaton High School Principal Scott Hammond continues under current Principal George Brown where the school purchases smoke detectors and donates them to the Flomaton Volunteer Fire Department, which in turns gives them away to residents living within the Flomaton fire district.

Wednesday morning, Brown gave 102 smoke detectors to Fire Chief Steve Stanton and Fireman Jeremy Lee, the town's lone paid fireman.

Stanton said the program began eight years ago and has been continued under Brown.

Brown said Bondurant Lumber and Hardware gives the school "a good deal...
