Body engulfed in flames in Tuesday’s crash

As of press time Wednesday the identity of the person who died Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash on County Road 4 near Century had not been released as officials await DNA and dental records to make a positive identification.

According to reports released by the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the silver sedan was traveling west on Highway 4, just west of Gloryland Road when the vehicle left the roadway and slammed head-on into a tree off of the south shoulder. The report states after impact with the tree the vehicle became fully engulfed in fire, killing the unidentified driver.

Witnesses did say the vehicle had Alabama license plates.

Reports state the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and attempting to identify the driver.
