Residents will see $1.27 monthly increase
Effective Jan. 1, 2022, Jay residents will see an increase of $1.27 in their garbage rate due to a 4 percent Consumer Price Index (CPI) increase following Monday night's council meeting.
The increase comes a year after the town made garbage service mandatory within town limits and signed a five-year contract with Adams Sanitation.
An Adams Sanitation representative said the biggest three reasons why the fees rose are an increase in dump fees, the rise in fuel costs and the company's competitiveness to keep good drivers on staff.
