Century negotiates a higher rate; approves resolutions

City stands to receive up to $258,000 from Capital Trust Agency

Residents in Century will see a slight increase in their garbage rates in December after the town council approved a 3.73 percent increase from Republic Services.

Interim City Manager Vernon Prather explained the increase is based on the Consumer Price Index and the current contract allows Republic Services to get the increase based on the CPI.

The rate increase will go into effect on Dec. 1.

The increase will raise residential garbage fees from $24.43 per month to $25.34 per month.
