Hudson to take book on tour

As the Crow Flies to be highlighted on Mike Huckabee TV

Local author Ed Hudson, who wrote the book 'As the Crow Flies: The Redemption of an International Drug Smuggler, will be appearing on the Mike Huckabee Show at 7 p.m. March 20 and 8 p.m. on March 21 to discuss his book.

The Mike Huckabee Show is broadcast on the TBN network.

Hudson's book follows the late Century resident Freddie Crow who helped operate a marijuana-smuggling operation from Belize to the Florida panhandle. Hudson, a narcotics officer, was the hunter, Crow and others were the hunted. The two later became friends.

Hudson says he has no idea how many copies of his books have been sold, but says he still has requests for more copies.

Hudson said he let his original publicist go “because it was costing me too much money”. He said he then got a call from Brenda Golden, ex-wife of William Lee Golden, who told him she had read the book and was in the public relations business and said she'd love to represent him.

“She's gotten me a lot of real good interviews,” Hudson said.

He said it was Golden who set up his appearance on the Mike Huckabee Show.

“She's also been talking to some production companies about possibly making a movie offer,” Hudson said. “I never wrote the book to make money, it was just a story I wanted, and was driven, to tell.”

Book signing

Hudson will be in Flomaton this Saturday as part of a blood drive and more at RaBo's Sweets and Trading Post, located at the intersection of Wilkerson Street and Highway 29, to sign books.

Hudson said he plans on being there from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tippy Wagner, owner of RaBo's, said people participating in the blood mobile will get a free wellness checkup that includes a COVID-19 antibody test, blood pressure and temperature tests, cholesterol screening and more.
