Boyd charged with sex abuse

A Florida man who had a previous address on Wolf Log Road near Flomaton has been arrested on multiple sex and abuse charges for allegedly engaging in sexual acts with five different young boys under the age of 12.

Darryl Boyd, Jr., 36, who listed his address as 5507 Foster St., Pensacola, during a bond hearing before District Judge Eric Coale in Escambia County, Ala., was charged with four counts of enticing a child for immoral purposes, four counts of aggravated child abuse and three counts of sex abuse on a child less than 12 years old. Coale set his bond at $500,000.

A condition of his bond is that Boyd have not contact with the victims or any child under the age of 18. He will also be placed under house arrest and required to wear an ankle monitor.

In the arrest warrants signed by the Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff's Office, Boyd is accusing of fondling and feeling the young boys and having the young boys fondle him on multiple occasions.

He is also accused of forcing the victims to kneel down on rice as a punishment and hitting them with sticks and shovel handles containing thorns and nails.

District Attorney Steve Billy said Boyd was out on bond for sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old at the time of his arrest. However, he said the previous charge and the new charges occurred during the same time period. Billy said once Boyd was arrested on the first charge, the sheriff's office's investigation led to the new charges against other victims.
