Alger-Sullivan Historical Society to host an event featuring, Hudson, Crews, McKinley
Local book publishers Ed Hudson, Earline Crews and Kevin McKinley will highlight an event Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Leach House in Century's historic district where the authors will gather to sign books that include Hudson's first book – 'As the Crow Flies, The Redemption of an International Drug Smuggler', and Crews' newest book – 'Fading Memories'.
Sponsored by the Alger-Sullivan Historical Society, the event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the corner of 4th Street and Jefferson Avenue in Century.
Jerry Fischer, president of the Alger-Sullivan Historical Society, said Don Sales from the McMillan Museum in Brewton will be on hand and Russell Brown is expected with his book on the history of Bratt. He said he's also invited members of the historical societies from Jay and Bay Minette to attend and participate.
"It will be a great day to take a look at the history of our area," Fischer said. "We'll serve light refreshments and hopefully people will come out, meet the authors and buy an autographed copy of their books.
Fisher said he also hopes to have other vendors on site for the day.
Hudson's book on the life and times of Century resident Freddie Crow first became available on Sept. 1 and will be on hand to sell and sign books.
Crews said she will release 'Fading Memories' for the first time on Sept. 12 and McKinley said he will he will bring all five of his books to the event.
McKinley and Crews each write a weekly column in the Tri-City Ledger and their books are a combination of those columns and more.
