Wagner seeks to return to council

Former Flomaton mayor running for District 4 seat

Kay Wagner said she entered the race for the District 4 council seat in Flomaton because she wants to bring positivity to the table to help continue moving the town forward.

Wagner, 80, previously served three terms on the Flomaton Town Council and four years as the town's mayor.

Flomaton's municipal elections will be held Aug. 25 at Flomaton Town Hall.

“I believe positivity breeds solutions and negativity breeds problems,” she said. “No is a negative, yes is a positive and it breeds success.”

Wagner said she the citizens need to be able to bring suggestions, opinions and ideas to the town and feels much can be accomplished with that input.

“They need to feel more welcome and come to our council meetings and feel welcome while they are there,” she said. “I hear from people all the time and I will present their agendas, ideas and suggestions to the council to help the town.”

A native of Texas, Wagner has been a resident of Flomaton since 1972. She was the first female member of the Flomaton Volunteer Fire Department and served as a volunteer fireman for 20 years. She also served as treasurer of the Salvation Army for 30 years, has spent the past five or six years working at the Alabama Welcome Center and Railroad Museum in Flomaton and currently serves as an aide for Flomaton's municipal court.

She added that her three children, Tanya, Tippy and Tag are all graduates of Flomaton High School.

“We have a great town and we have great schools,” Wagner said. “The people of this town really want to be a community. They don't like division. You can't find a better place to live than Flomaton.”

“Give me a chance,” she said. “Give me your support to serve one more time.”

Wagner said she has some projects ready to present for implementation with the council and mayor's blessings once she's elected.
