Century closes down town hall

Two employees test positive for COVID-19; checks, money orders only for utility bills

Century Town Hall closed its lobby doors last Friday, July 24, for the health and safety our its staff and public following two employees who tested positive for COVID-19.

“I'm bringing one person in a day, but only to answer the phone,” said Century Mayor Henry Hawkins. “We are taking payments, through the drop-box, we are doing what we've got to do. We cannot take cash because there is only one employee present and they will not be in a face-to-face situation, so there is no way to prove the amount.”

Hawkins said all town employees have gotten tested since then.
