Says surgery went well; now time to heal
Fellow members of the Escambia County (Ala.) Commission welcomed back Commissioner David Stokes, who attended Monday's meeting following surgery July 1 to remove a cancerous tumor from his colon.
Stokes told the commissioners the surgery went well and that he was glad to be back.
"It was better than what I was expecting," Stokes said.
He said the cancer was removed during the surgery and there will be no follow-up with chemo therapy.
"Now is time heal," he said.
