Armistead Jake Holmes, Jr., 91, of Brewton, died Monday, July 6, 2020.

Mr. Holmes was born Jan. 9, 1929, to Armistead Jake and Ella Frances Hoomes, in the Hoomesville community and became a lifetime resident of Escambia County, Ala. A member of the Brewton Church of Christ, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and elder, he graduated from Damascus High School in 1947 and began working at T.R. Miller Mill Company in the forestry division. He held several positions and graduated from the University of West Florida throughout his long career and retired as a vice president. Perfo...
