Jay Run set for July 4

In its 21st year the annual Celebrate Freedom 5K Road Race will once again commence in the small town of Jay, Florida on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

The 5K Run/Walk will begin and end in the Jay City Park. Race time for the 5K is 8:00AM and the One Mile Fun Run will begin at approximately 9:15AM.

“It’s an ideal event for active families,” said race organizer Matt Dobson. “We will celebrate freedom and we will do it in a healthy and fun way. Everyone is welcomed at this family-friendly event.”

This year the Santa Rosa County Health Department will participate by having an information booth with educational material concerning healthy eating, healthy living, and how to become more physically active.

The event will kick-off with the singing of the National Anthem, and all the race amenities for a race in the country will be on hand. Your entry fee will grant you a cool t-shirt, an attempt at a patriotic award, water, Gatorade, cookies, fruit, and watermelon. The entry fee is low at $20 for early registration and $25 on race day. Registrations cover the expense of the shirts and trophies. Part of the proceeds of the race go towards the Jay Volunteer Fire Department and Jay High School Cross-Country Team.

Participants can register on-line at http://www.active.com and on Race Day, July 4th beginning at 6:30am at the Jay City Park, 5259 Booker Lane, Jay, Florida. Shirts are guaranteed to the first 75 registered runners and walkers. All registered participants are eligible for awards in 34 different age groups. Come kick off your 4th of July at the Celebrate Freedom 5K & One Mile Fun Run/Walk in scenic Jay, Florida. “It’s a Home Town race with Home Town Hospitality”.
