Flomaton Church's closed permanently

Church's Chicken in Flomaton has apparently been closed permanently with no plans to reopen the restaurant. The restaurant closed Monday. As of Wednesday, there were no signs on the doors, but the menu has been cleared from the drive-thru.

A spokesperson from Church's corporate office would only confirm that the restaurant had closed, giving no reason or whether the restaurant would re-open.

Mary Carter, district manager of the Church's Chicken in Brewton, said it was her understanding the Flomaton restaurant was closing permanently, but noted the Church's Chicken in Brewton and other areas are still open.

Shaun Moye, utilities superintendent for the town of Flomaton, said Church's had sewer issues last week when the grease trap overflowed, and grease was spilled into the parking lot. He said the Escambia County Health Department gave Church's 24 hours to clean it up and fix the problem within 24 hours or the restaurant would be shut down.

Moye said the parking lot was cleaned and it was his understanding the problem was corrected.

American Coffee House

The American Coffee House on Highway 31 in Flomaton has also announced that it will be closed temporarily due to equipment issues.

A sign posted at the coffee house says 'Due to issues with our coffee machine we are temporarily closed. We're currently working to get a new machine. We expect to be open in a week or so. We appreciate all of our customers and we look forward to being able to serve you soon. Thanks for understanding".
