Charles Edward Thompson

Charles Edward Thompson, 72, died Friday, June 12, 2020.

Mr. Thompson was a native of Atmore who had resided in Flomaton for most of his life. Of the Baptist faith, he was a retired operator with Vanity Fair with 33 years of service and worked as caretaker of the Sardis Baptist Cemetery for more than 16 years. He was an avid outdoorsman.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Earle Green officiating. Burial followed at the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Mr., Thompson is survived by two sons, Charles “Little Charles” (Melissa) Thompson, Jr. of Century and Christopher Lee (Megan) Thompson of Flomaton; two sisters, Gracie (Glendall) Pridgen and Pam (Melvin) Johnson, both of Flomaton; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and other extended family members and friends.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by one daughter, Tina Thompson Hall; his parents; one brother, Bobby Thompson; and his grandparents.
