Family members and friends of fallen warriors gathered on the front lawn of the Escambia County (Ala.) Courthouse Monday morning to pay tribute to the 185 county residents who died defending the country. Family members cover their hearts as they recite the 'Pledge of Allegiance' and sing the 'Star Spangled Banner'. The American flag is lifted at the memorial monument and then lowered to half staff in honor of the veterans. Charles Jackson concluded the event by reading the names of all veterans killed during active duty. See more on Pages 12A and 13A.
