A Walnut Hill, Fla. man was arrested April 4 when authorities responding to a theft complaint were able to identify the person captured by surveillance equipment as a suspect for the theft.
Hunter Anthony Chavers, 24, 6801 Pine Forest Road, was arrested and charged with one count felony dealing in stolen property when he was identified with another male subject on a stolen surveillance camera, according to an Escambia County (Fla.) Sheriff's office report.
John Gay, 200 Highway 97A in Walnut Hill, told authorities that his $500 surveillance camera was stolen March 19, although it continued to live stream to Cloud Storage, according to the report. Chavers was positively identified as one of two suspects captured on several videos.
When authorities spoke with Chavers, he admitted to possession of the camera but said that later in the day of the alleged theft, a male stopped by a residence where Chavers was and asked him if he wanted to purchase the camera for $10.
The report said Chavers voluntarily released the camera to law enforcement and it was returned to Gay.
Chavers was arrested April 4 and transported to Escambia County Jail, where he was given a bond of $3,500.
