Flomaton praises its workers

Members of the Flomaton Town Council praised town employees and first responders during Monday afternoon's teleconference meeting, citing their jobs during the COVID-19 shutdown.

“All employees have done a good job from our police officers, utilities workers, first responders and others,” said Councilman Jim Johnson. “We will get through this and go back to normal life.”

Other council members agreed.

“All have done a good job,” said Councilman Roger Adkinson. “I haven't had any major problems.”

Mayor Dewey Bondurant Jr., brought up that Utilities Superintendent Shaun Moye and his workers have been working late hours trying to deal with sewer issues caused by flushing wipes, rages and paper towels down the toilet.

He said Moye's crew and Police Chief Chance Thompson's crew have been doing a great job.

No public forum

Prior to adjourning the meeting, Town Attorney Chuck Johns noted that nobody had requested to address the council during the public forum portion of the meeting.

The town had allowed people to either type the comments or email them to town hall and they would be read at the meeting. None were received from the citizens.

Johns said he felt the fact that no public comment requests were received needed to be recorded in the minutes of the meeting.
