Virgil Gene Boddiford, 77, of Wilmington, Ga., died Tuesday, March 17, 2020 following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Boddiford was born Jan. 15, 1943, and served in the U.S. Navy as the first male nursing student in Georgia and first male president of the Student Nurses Association of Georgia. Earning his CRNA at the DePaul School of Anesthesia, he worked throughout the southeast until he retired in 2017, and served as a Deacon who enjoyed the outdoors.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 21, at the Old Bradley Cemetery with Rev. David Elliott officiating. Burial followed with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
Mr. Boddiford is survived by the mother of his children, Elaine Palmer Boddiford of Wilmington, Ga.; one son, Palmer Houston Boddiford of Wilmington; one daughter, Mia Brooke Boddiford of North Richland Hills, Texas; one brother, Edward (Judy) Boddiford; and numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.
