Ollie Mae Thornton, 96, died Sunday, March 15, 2020, in Carlinville, Ill.
Mrs. Thornton was born Oct. 23, 1923, to George Washington and Lenora Blair Hayes, in Appleton, Ala., She relocated to Bay Minette in 1989 and back to Illinois later and was a member of Perdido Baptist Church.
A graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, March 22, at Odd Fellow's Cemetery in Bayou LaBatre, Ala. Burial followed with Craver's Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Thornton is survived by two daughters, Louise Chance Thompson of Bay Minette and Frances Chance Hudgins of Carlinville; one brother, Fletcher Hayes of Grand Bay, Ala.; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and extended family members and friends.
Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Grady Chance and James Thornton; one son, Charles Albert Chance; her parents; three brothers, William Hayes, Ira Lee Hayes and Arthur Hayes; one sister, Beatrice Unrue; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
