Mary A. Drakeford

Mary A. Drakeford, 89, died Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at the Brewton hospital.

Mrs. Drakeford was born Feb. 8, 1931, to Henry Andrews and Lizzie Benjamin Jones Andrews, in the Johnsonville community of Conecuh County, Ala. and had been living in Brewton since 1958. A graduate of Alabama State University, where she was a member of the AKA Sorority, she was an elementary school teacher for the Conecuh County School System for a number of years. She was a member of Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 9, at Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Willie J. Blue officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Drakeford is survived by one daughter, Denise (Charles) Jefferson Vaughn of Huntsville, Ala.; one sister, Minnie (Calvin) Augustine of Louisville, Ky.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous special nieces.

Mrs. Drakeford was preceded in death by her parents; and six siblings, Ola Bell Davis, Ervin Andrews, Otis Andrews, Grace Gable, Rometta Dove and Cora Ammons.
