Mayor says plant on hold

Concrete plant plans on hold for right now

Flomaton Mayor Dewey Bondurant Jr., told members of the town council Monday night that the proposed new concrete pipe plant in Flomaton has been put on hold and will not happen at this time.

“Right now it has come to a halt,” Bondurant said. “I appreciate what the people have done in working on this project, but it won't happen at this time.”

Foley Pipe Co., had announced plans to construct an estimated $18 million pre-cast concrete pipe plant on Highway 31 on property the company owns behind the Tri-City Ledger building.

Bondurant said he had already received confirmation from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs to pay to have sewer lines installed to the location.

Bondurant did announce that the state has agreed to provide the $50,000 match the town needs to resurface Upper Creek Road and Carter Drive.

He also said County Commissioner Scottie Stewart has said while the county is doing road striping it will take in the town's portion of Upper Creek Road to Highway 31 and the work should be done in about two weeks.
