Atmore drug cases net $1 million bond

Two arrested for trafficking drugs have extensive criminal records

Two Atmore men are being held on $1 million bond each for multiple drug charges and both have had previous bonds and probations revoked.

Timothy Wayne Satterwhite, 49, 1207 Hall Creek Road, and Willie Carl Calhoun, Jr., 52, 206 Peach St., were arrested last week in separate incidents and charged with trafficking illegal drugs.

Calhoun was also charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of prescription pills without a prescription, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.

Satterwhite was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana I, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.

In a press release from the Atmore Police Department, Chief Chuck Brooks said agents with the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Atmore Police Department, Flomaton Police Department and the Escambia County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at Satterwhite's 1207 Hall Creek Road residence March 6. He reported agents found about 43 grams of methamphetamine, 26 grams of marijuana and numerous paraphernalia items used for ingesting, packaging and selling illegal narcotics. He also said agents seized six firearms.

Court records also show Satterwhite had prescription drugs that included Xanax and Suboxine.

During a bond hearing Monday, Assistant District Attorney Todd Stearns told District Judge Eric Coale that Satterwhite had a prior criminal record and had just been released a few weeks ago on a controlled substance charge and was on probation for a drug possession charge. Stearns suggested a bond of no less than $1 million and Coale set the bond at $1 million.

Stearns also said Calhoun was out on bond at the time of his arrest and he was also given a $1 million bond on his charges.

Court records show he was found in possession of Lortab, Viagra and Cialis when he was arrested.
