Century man critically injured in crash

A Century man who was a passenger in a vehicle crash was transported to the hospital in critical condition last Thursday.

Gregory Matthews, 34, was the front seat passenger of a 2007 Toyota Sienna driven by 36-year-old Ava Stoudmire, of Pensacola, traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on North W Street in Pensacola.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Stoudmire attempted to make a left turn onto Marcus Pointe Boulevard, but failed to negotiate the turn.

The Sienna collided with a semi-truck, driven by 51-year-old Michael Hyatt, of Bay Minette, and then rotated clockwise into a 2018 Isuzu Box truck, driven by 29-year-old Demontra Jackson, of Pensacola. Both the semi and the box truck were traveling southbound on North W Street.

Debris from the Sienna struck another vehicle, a 1997 Chevy Tahoe, that was properly parked in a parking lot on the northwest corner of the intersection.

Both Stoudmire and Matthews were transported to Sacred Heart in critical condition. The right rear passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
