James “Sput” Perry Freeman, 62, of Brewron, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, following a brief illness.
Mr. Freeman was a native of Brewton and former resi- dent of Decatur, Ala., before moving back to Brewton. Of the Baptist faith, he attended the W.S. Neal School system before graduating from West Morgan High School in Decatur. He was employed as a safety supervisor at T.R. Miller Mill Company and for- mer administrator at the Escambia County Jail, with a total of 33 years of service in law enforcement.
