William Robert Carter, 92, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019, in Repton, Ala., after a brief illness.
Mr. Carter was born to William Robert, Sr. and Alice Caine Carter in Repton. He graduated from Marion Military Institute and attended Emory University, later transferring to the University of Alabama. During World War II, he worked as a mechanic, using his knowledge of farm equipment to repair the engines on the submarine chasers patrolling the Eastern seaboard and the Panama Canal.
