Willie Thomas 'Doug W.T.' Johnson

Willie Thomas “Doug W.T.” Johnson, 88, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019.

Mr. Johnson was born March 7, 1931 to Frank Johnson and Willie Mae Nunn in Uriah, Ala. He was drafted into the military, serving from 1952 to 1954, in the Korean War. Upon his return home, we began working for Monsanto, where he retired after 30 years. Educated up to the third grade, he taught himself to read, write and became a carpenter. A master carpenter, he helped build the New Order Missionary Baptist Church in the Freemanville community, where he served as a deacon.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, at New Order Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Sidney Grant officiating.s Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery with Christian Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 69 years, Annie Pearl Flowers Johnson; two sons, Jeronimo (Sandra) Johnson of Pike Road, Ala. and Oshaske Johnson of Mobile; three brothers, Melvin (Patricia) Johnson, Freddie (Denise) Johnson and John (Brenda) Johnson; four sisters, Elnetta Johnson (Robert Thomas), Rosetta Johnson (Finley Sims) and Mary Johnson (Mason Jackson); six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by five siblings, Curtis (Helen) Johnson, Frank R.J. (Helen) Johnson, Jr., Elvin Johnson, Jeff Johnson and Annie Ruth Johnson.
