Century will get $93K

Three projects through CTA could bring the town $93,000 in fees

The town of Century will receive as much as $93,000 when the council approved three resolutions for bond issuance through the Capital Trust Agency (CTA) Monday night.

Denis McKinnon with CTA presented the council with three projects. The Town of Century and the City of Gulf Breeze have an inter local agreement stating neither municipality is responsible for paying the principal or interest on the issued bonds

The first project is PCPT Lexana, which includes the acquisition, construction, installation and equipping a facility in Lenexa, Kansas with a two-story proton therapy center with three proton treatment rooms to more efficiently treat cancer. The total bond issuance is no more than $150 million, with a fee of $52,500 going to Century.

In a motion made by Councilman James Smith and seconded by Councilman Lius Gomez, the motion carried.

The second project is for Florida Academy Foundation, Inc. to acquire two existing charter schools, in Palm Beach County and Broward County. The total bond issuance for this project is $90 million, so the fee to Century will be $33,000.

In a motion made by Councilman Ben Boutwell and seconded by Councilman Smith, the motion carried.

The third project is Imagine Pasco County, LLC, to acquire a charter school, which is now being leased, in Land O Lakes, Fla. The total bond issuance will be $20 million with the town receiving an $8,000 fee.

In a motion made by Councilwoman Sandra McMurray Jackson and seconded by Councilman Boutwell, the motion carried.

Each project serves a public purpose by providing gainful employment and making a significant contribution to the economic growth of the local community, promoting commerce within that state, providing healthcare services and advancing the economic prosperity and the general welfare of that state and its people.
