Century woman killed in crash

A Century woman lost her life around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday when the 1996 Caprice she was driving ran off an Interstate 10 ramp, struck a road sign and overturned.

Katherine Susanne Lee, 35, was traveling east on Interstate 110 F1 ramp in the outside lane approaching a right-hand curve in order to begin traveling south on Interstate 110, when the driver failed to negotiate the curve and lost control of the vehicle, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

The vehicle began to rotate in a clockwise manner, crossed the outside lane of traffic and entered the south shoulder on the roadway. The front left corner of the vehicle struck a traffic sign located on the south shoulder of the roadway and overturned.

The vehicle came to final rest on its roof facing south on the south shoulder, just west of Interstate 110.

Lee, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital by Escambia EMS, where she died due to her injuries.
