Twins back in jail for drugs

Flomaton brothers recently arrested in Brewton among six people arrested in Holt subdivision drug sweep

Twin brothers who were arrested Aug. 8 on drug charges in Brewton are back behind bars following a drug sweep of the Holt subdivision in Flomaton Aug. 14 that resulted in the arrests of six people on various drug charges. Also, two traffic stops in Flomaton sent three more people to jail on drug charges between Aug. 12 and Aug. 16.

Keenan Shawn Johnson, 33, and Kenny Shane Johnson, 33, both of 125 Sue St., Flomaton, were arrested Aug. 8 after a traffic stop and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Kenny Johnson was also charged with promoting prison contraband II when he was found to be in possession of meth once he was taken to the Escambia County Detention Center. The brothers were both released on $5,000 bond on those charges.

On Aug. 14, officers with the Flomaton Police Department, the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals' Fugitive Task Force executed search warrants at 125 Sue St., and 61 Evelyn St., in Flomaton resulting in six arrests.

Keenan Johnson was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Kenny Johnson was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (meth) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were issued $15,000 bonds on the new charges, but the district attorneys office filed a motion to have their previous bonds revoked.

Others arrested in the Aug. 14 sweep at Holt subdivision were:

Jessica Lister, 30, 180 Jason Lane, Brewton, charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (meth and spice) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Johnny Ray Few, 39, 40663 Pine Grove Road, Bay Minette, charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (meth) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Taylor J. Higdon, 27, 4722 Foshee Road, Brewton, charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (meth) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tonya Johnson, 51, 125 Sue St., charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (meth) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia..

Lister received a bond of $15,000 and Few, Higdon and Johnson were issued bonds of $5,000.

On Aug. 13, Jessica Nicole Simmons, 29, 45 Woodchuck Road, Brewton, and Drema Dawn Whitley, 36, 3815 U.S. Highway 80 West, Phenix City, were charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (meth) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, following a traffic stop initiated by the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force and the Flomaton Police Department on Highway 31 near the Flomaton Fire Station. Both were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center and jailed on $5,000 bond.

On Aug. 14, officers initiated a traffic stop in the Holt subdivision that resulted in the arrest of Leon Howard Thomas, 39, 104 North Pine St., Brewton, on three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance that included Xanax, Suboxone and meth. Thomas was transported to the detention center and jailed on $15,000 bond.
