Vickey Elaine Goldthrip, 59, died Wednesday, May 8, 2019.
Mrs. Goldthrip was born April 29, 1960, to Robert Leon and Macola McCreary Goldthrip. Graduating with honor from Lyeffion High School in Evergreen, she attended California State University in Dominguez Hills. In 1982, she received her bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Alabama and completed her post-graduate work at Auburn University at Montgomery with a Master's in business administration while continuing her career with the State of Alabama in social work. Later, she worked for several years for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and then independent business ventures, including business feasibility studies, research and consulting. Initially a member of Bethel Baptist Church, sh joined Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church, where she served for many years as a church representative for meetings both locally and regionally.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, at Antioch Baptist Church No. 1 with Pastor Whalen Oliver officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Christian Memorial Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Goldthrip is survived by one brother, Michael (Kristal) Goldthrip of Cartersville, Ga.; three aunts, Viola Armbrister of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Delois Carlis and Arcola Leslie, both of Evergreen; six cousins, Reginald Carlis, Frank and Jackie Leslie, Kenneth Leslie, Danita Armbrister, Christopher Carlis and Curtis Leslie; and numerous other family members and friends.
Mrs. Goldthrip was preceded in death by her parents.
