Visit nets meth in vehicle

A Brewton woman was one of two people arrested Saturday by Alabama Department of Corrections investigators during visitation at the Ventress Facility in Clayton.

Morgan Steele, 27, of Brewton was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance after agents found methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia during an inspection of the vehicle she was driving.

Steele was released from prison on parole in November, 2015, after serving one year for possession of a controlled substance in Escambia County.

In a separate incident, Dionee Perdue, 28, of Grady, was arrested at the Ventress Facility and charged with promoting prison contraband after agents found a cell phone and cell phone charger wrapped in black electrical tape during a search.

Steele and Perdue were booked into the Barbour County Jail following their arrests.

Corrections officials are asking for the public's help in curbing the contraband being taken into Alabama prisons. Information that may lead to the arrest of anyone attempting to introduce illegal contraband into state prisons can be given the department of corrections investigations and intelligence division by calling 1-855-937-2362 or by going to ADOC's website at http://www.doc.alabama.gov/investigationrequest.
