James Alfred Burkett, 89, of Atmore, died Friday, April 26, 2019 at West Florida Regional Hospital in Pensacola.

Mr. Burkett was born Feb. 24, 1930, to Claude and Patti Burkett. A U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict, he retired from Monsanto. He was a longtime member of Presley Street Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, as well as numerous other positions throughout the years.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 29, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Revs. Joseph Simpson and Dempsey Bell officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Johnson-...
